Zigzagoon Monospecies Challenge

As soon as I thought up the idea to play through Pokémon Sapphire using only Zigzagoon / Linoone as my battle party, I knew I'd have to give it a go.
As soon as I begun, I knew it was an atrocious idea.

I decided to use five - Edge, Gekkou, Izayoi, Zangetsu and Tsukinowa (named after Edge and the Eblan Four from Final Fantasy IV). Which, of course, meant my levels were always going to be fairly low.

I am currently stuck on Roxanne, being the Rock-type trainer that she is, but we shall not give up. I've had too long playing Pokémon the easy way - using only the starter through the storyline and attaining stupidly high levels early on. It's time for a challenge!

I'm not sure why I'm posting this - perhaps to inspire others to attempt something similar, or to put down in words what I'm doing so that I won't give up so easily.

Good luck on your challenge. Luckily you weren't using six of them because I'd hate to see you when you need to use the HM for Fly.

Yeah, I can fit Cut, Strength, Surf and Rock Smash on various Linoone. I'll have to leave one Zigzagoon in the PC later on to use Dive / Waterfall / whatever.

I really want to have them all do different things, seeing as the TM movepool for Linoone isn't too bad, so each member develops their own personality, I guess.

Hard difficulty: You can't let them evolve and they have to be 5 levels lower than the gym leaders (depending on how far you are into the game) highest level Pokemon.

No evolution: No, I don't want to press the B button from levels 20-100, thank-you very much. For five 'mons. And I want to pick up loads of goodies, so Everstones are a no-go too.
Low-level: This has happened already, so I'm screwed.
